Glue powder for resin

Can someone who shapes wood boards recommend a glue powder? I’m planning on using Tap Plastics resin, but they don’t sell a glue powder for it. I’m guessing any glue powder would work, but since I’m new at this, I thought I’d get an expert recommendation.

Thanks.

If I were you I would just use elmers glue, no resin. Its kinda water proof, and it works easy after it has dried. I have never made a wooden board but it sure works great on nose and tail blocks.

By “glue powder” do you mean “adhesive filler for epoxy”? - I usually use West System 406 colloidal sillica.

Tap also sells Cabosil which works fine to thicken their resins. I use it for setting fin boxes, deep repairs, etc.

For nose & tail blocks I use 5 minute 2-part epoxy from Ace Hardware.

For stringers & gluing up foam I use Elmers.

Yeah, I guess that’s what I mean. I’m not really sure. It was called glue powder by the person that recommended I get some. Do you know if I can use the filler from West with the epoxy from Tap? I want to use Tap because of it’s resistance to yellowing as recommended by Benny.

Is the only thing it’s for is to thicken the resin? I’m still a little confused. I just want to only have to buy one resin. Since the Tap Plastics resin seems to fit the bill, I assumed I could also use it for the adhesive, but I’m not sure what’s required to make it an adhesive. On their website they say it’s good for adhesion, laminating, finishing, sealing, etc., but I couldn’t find an explanation of the mixture needed to make it an adhesive.

I know, I know, I’m an ignorant cuss. Thanks for the help though. :o)

west systems 406 colloidal silica is the stuff. its good for just about eveything. pick it up at most west marine stores.

mix it to a thick “mayonase” consistency for filler and deep dings. mix a little thinner for “glue ups”. I have been using it for years and find its a little better than tap cab-o-sill. it just about the same stuff but the west systems is a little more pure or refined or something.

it also mixes well with anything (poly…vynalesters and epoxies).

just remember to mix it compleatley…i.e. no clumps and make it into a paste.dont leave it so thined that it runs too much. and dont make it harden too fast or it will just crack on you.
