Glueline stringer on 9ft longboard?

Hey guys

What do you think about a 9ft longboard with glueline as a stringer?

It will be surfed in enkel to waisthigh surf. No high performance, just cruising

I will be using EPS #2 with double 6 oz top, single 6oz bottom.

From what i understand the glue itself will be stronger than the eps beads. Can I use epoxy resin for this? Can’t really figure out why not.

If the board would have to much flex (snap easy) without a true stringer, would carbon tape over the stringerline help to reduce flex?

Any input is much aprecciated. I’m about to start my second board build, so I’m still in the proces of learning as much as I can.

I haven’t done it, but I wouldn’t consider doing it either, unless you were vacuuming some type of shell over the blank.  Definitely not with a standard 6+6 on top and 6 on bottom glass job.  There is a reason stringers are standard issue in a surfboard blank.

I just picked up my first eps 2# stringerless longboard blank (I’ll be adding a stringer, probably three), and man, that is one floppy piece of foam!

Don’t know anything about carbon tape, but I’m having a hard time imagining it could add as much strength as a standard stringer.

Resin will work but not offer much for strength on a longboard.

As Huck stated above, there is a reason for stringered foam.

Longboards flex a lot.

Consider a stronger than average glassing schedule.

Wide laps will help.
