Is it just my imagination or does there seem to be a rash of Google adds on Sways these days? I find my self trying to ignore or find that tiny little x at the beginning of a thread, after posts and at the bottom of every page. Sometimes two or three at the bottom.
…I mentioned the system that I use to compare with what you use and very possible that is another.
Another thing is to not enter the web by clicking on your icon; in that way google reads always what you normally click and then proceed regarding those actions.
Like clcicking from the cell phone in those icons that the system provides for you…
Basically it’s like this; if you have ever googled Swaylocks the door is open to google adds. I do have it in my favorites so I click on that. But having googled Sways in the past the adds persist until I decide to do as Sammy said and use a blocker. Apple IPad has great security, but google is convenient and once you use them you open your computer up to a barrage of adds… My guess is because of the season more adds than usual.
Yep…PC is locked down & good…phone has adblocker on. If you have a good tip abt latter maybe PM? Unfortunately that is the state of things at the moment, i.e. you’re a fool if you post yr security details to any public place
You are correct – there are more ads. I changed ad serving provider to generate more income so I can keep Swaylock’s going. At the moment, to my mind, there are two ways to generate income:
Serve ads.
Have a paywall -- in other words, sell subscriptions in order to use swaylock's.
Number 1 is really easy to implement – number two way more complicated, not to mention the social implications. My longer term hope is to do a combination of the two, wherein if you subscribe, you don’t see ads, in addtion to other, to be determined benefits.
I’ve seen other sites set it up so that members who kick in a small annual subscription get it ad-free and a “supporting member” tag on their avatar and the others have to deal with the ads.
