I have recently got a gopro and I ve noticed the mount was smaller. I went to Greenlight surfshop in manasquan and they were a huge help. I wanted to make it more secure so i glassed on the mount after i pasted it to my board. Unfortunatly I have not been able to try it and for future boards i was wondering if i should try the FCS fin plug. Like everyone who has a gopro i want it to be safe and have it not fall off.
Please comment if you have used FCS fin plug or the adhesive mount
I mounted it in line with the stringer – I reccomend not doing this. You should mount the plug at a 45 degree angle to the stinger in the direction you want to film. Possibly putting two plugs one right, one left.
My reason being - if you film straight ahead, unless you are in a super critical and very oblique wave, it looks like you are going straight. OR if you are a camera hog and film yourself, the only one that wants to look at your mug while catching a wave is you… Just sayin…
So, if you go at an angle in the direction of the way you are surfing, you can actually see the wave and it is pretty cool…
Would I put another plug in a board? Well no. I really don’t put it on the board all that much…
A2 and the guys at greenlight helped me do this but i was too lazy to sand it also I wound think its better for me not to sand it for stronger support. Comment on ideas and other imputs about the gopro
da5id, I did the same–mount it slightly off center on your toe side. That gets some pretty cool shots.
Tyler, make sure if you do decide to use an FCS plug that the location is thicker than at least 5/8" or else you’ll hole saw right through the nose. Not the end of the world, but who wants to deal with that?
