Forgive me if I can’t credit these to the right folks, as I’m quoting from memory…
These ones have been in my head for ages:-
"Beware the lollipop of mediocrity,
Lick it once and you suck forever…"
“The killers in high places say their prayers out loud”
“They say the Truth must take a beating…”
Please add your favourite.

…ambrose…
My favorite, as that’s what I keep on telling my wife :
“Last one honey I promess” (Ramon)
One of the many poems by Ambrose :
"build the rack
make the template
get the blank
sharpen the saw
cut it out
do the hokey pokey
shake off the dust
turn yourself about
glass the mother plucker
sand it and gloss it or not
and then the debased minds
incapable of forsight will in turn
elevate you beyond your real station
with labels like gypsy and guru and star
when all you are is a kid that surfs that makes boards better and worse
one after another one after another one after another
until the day all has gotten so confused
that perhaps the dream to get off
the carosel of confusion
is stifleing the chance
to surf a good day
with your
friends" (Ambrose)
Quote:
the carosel of confusion
is stifleing the chance
to surf a good day
with your
friends" (Ambrose)
Oh yeah to get all those surfs I missed back…
But some of those friends have come back with big grins and (sometimes…) that makes the toil worthwhile!

A few notables…
Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.
I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.
God is a comedian playing to an audience too afraid to laugh.

It is time we all say, “to the far right bookie? Or is your way perhaps to the left for you? At the last second of the one (myself) dropping in, I say, MY WAVE!!! Straighten off into the shoreward sands bookies!”

“I’ve read the gravity arguments and I’ve expressed my disagreement.”
" I scraped off that schmegma wax job you fucktard."
Been laughing since John Mellor posted it…and have scraped off 4 schmegma wax jobs…
The boards look better for it…
That is funny.
“Old shapers never die, they just plane on a higher level.”

that is an all-time quote from my all-time favourite thread…the thread (now legendary) about the propulsive forces which drive surfboards: the thread that in it’s second manifestation led to the great hawaiian Pipeline Roy challenge (or something) and ultimately, to the online annhilation of Roy himself. Ah, happy, interesting times.
That thread remains unfinished business.

“…and they are free if you get them from (the) cardboard box in your garage.” Darren’s micro economic theory applied to light bulbs.
I don’t know that I’ve ever read it here, but I’ve certainly heard it said among certain swaylockers:
“you probably need just a little more catalyst…”
These were pretty easy to come by.

the threads that make up our lives twist into yarns that can make a fine warm comfortable blanket for the colder days of our advancing age
fighting aint surfing.
