grom rocker

hi, im 5’1 and am going to try to shape my own board. i was looking at the JS mini tractor, the dumpster diver (shotrer), or the chilli grom. the only problem is that i dont have a template or have any rocker dimensions. does anyone have a template or any other grom boards?

also i was wondering how to import a board pic to aku shaper?

AKU and Boardcad both have scaling features, so just take the #s off a normal sized board (those kinds of #s are floating around here somewhere...), and scale everything to your desired length. Don't worry about importing photos, it's not very accurate anyway. Doing it yourself is more fun too.

Hey supergrom, being that this is your first board, I would just worry about getting this chunk of foam to look like a surfboard. Best of luck.

2 questions: how old are you and what kind of waves do you surf?

I am assuming you are still growing so 5’2"x16"x 1 7/8"  2" tail rocker 3 3/4" nose rocker. 13" wide a foot from the tail and 11" wide a foot from the nose. That should get you in the ball park. Play with the numbers on a computer or graph paper until it looks right then shape it take pictures and post them on here.

im 13 so yes im still growing and mikedaniel, could you post some direcsions on how to scale my board on aku shaper

i surf waves in florida and puerto rico so i need a board thet is versitle

sg aku will adjust the template to length and width but not rocker. you then also have to adjust the width to where you are going to need it. Or you could divide the board you are making’s length by the length of the board you are copying and multiply the rocker numbers by that amount. if you were trying to copy a 5’10" with 4 1/4" nose rocker and making a 5’2" it would be 62"/70"=.89        .89x 4.25"=3.8"

that is the basics of scaling. Keep in mind that doing that isn’t perfect since the new rocker is much tighter than the previous, longer board. But having a tighter rocker will make the board looser for the smaller rider who doesn’t have as much weight to throw into turns and muscle boards around. But to err on the side of caution always round DOWN to the closest 1/8" when scaling down. So in the case of the previous 5’10 to 5’2" conversion, round it to 3 3/4". I can email you a aku file if you want. PM me your email.
