This attached image is for Bill Thrailkill who is generously tring to help me identify a board. My hope is that you built it yourself Bill.
Aloha Mark,
Imagine my surprise, to see a board number without a shaper’s identifier. Then imagine my surprise when I recognized my own handwriting! I typically used a Flair felt tip pen, to write the board numbers. How I failed to put a T at the end of the number is a mystery to me. Perhaps I got distracted by someone. But, that is my handwriting, so I am the shaper.
Mark,
Some of the forum members might find the story of how you acquired that surfboard, to be quite interesting. It is a 1966 surfboard, and here it is some 48 years later, and it pops up.

not sure if you saw this one for sale on craigslist.rad board
“”“”"Collectors take note -
This nice old Long Board made by Don Hansen ca. 1965 it is 22" wide, and 10 ft long, sports a single fin.
The Id no 4032 T indicates it was shaped by Hansen’s Shaper Bill Thrailkill
It has some normal dings from use but still a great board for any collection and very Rare. This was purchased from the original owner who is retiring and could not move it with him.“”“”

Tom,
Thanks for posting that. I was not aware of that being out there. When I left Hobie ($8 per board) for Hansen ($10 per board) the number sequences at Hansen were in the 3900’s, so that is most likely a May or June 1965 board. Among my earliest Hansens.
Very cool!
Bill, thank you so much for your identification. I’m thrilled to hear that you’re the guy who shaped it. I don’t know anything about surf boards, but I used to work in a place where fiberglass fabrication was done, and the craftsmanship on the board is beautiful.
To fill the forum members in on how I acquired it, I cannot lie, I dug it out of my 87 year old neighbor lady’s trash. Now I’m going to have to grill her and try and get the story on the board. Incidentally, I’m in Rockaway Twp., NJ, in a neighborhood up on the side of a mountain, about 40-50 miles from the nearest beach.
