hardener only?

Is it possible to buy just the hardener for resin research kwik kick?  After making 3 or 4 epoxy boards, somehow I ended up with maybe a quart of resin and only an ounce of hardener… not sure if the jug got knocked over & spilled (lots of “helpers” around my place) or what… but at any rate I’m otherwise stuck with some nice useless blue stuff!  Need about a pint of hardener, what’s the chances of buying it separate?  (or does anyone out there have the opposite problem, ha ha…)

Hi Keith -

My local supplier (The Craft, San Luis Obispo) used to carry various sizes of all the products including hardener.  I can drop by and check… not sure if he still carries RR product.  I’ll bet Greg Loehr would send you a pint fo hardener pretty cheap and last I checked, epoxy doesn’t need to go haz mat.

On a similar note, I had a bottle of the H2O UV Clear catalyst go solid in the bottle and now have a jug of the clear coat but no catalyst.  Fiberglass Hawaii no longer carries the stuff, nor does The Craft.  I received a call back from Matt Campbell but missed it and now playing phone tag.  Any suggestions on equivalent product?  Is it the same stuff referred to as “cross link catalyst” used by other manufacturers of urethane clear coats?

Keith, that is a common problem when weighing out the resin and hardener.

The resin is heavier than the hardener.

So when you weigh it out, you use more hardener.

If done by volume it doesn’t happen.

I’ve seen this before.

I don’t even have a scale… so I don’t think that was the cause.  Thanks Barry!

hahahaha, I was gonna say the same thing as Barry…

then I realized, this is Keith, he’s a volume guy, that couldn’t be the cause.

=D

a simple guy am I.

the simple solution is

buy another kit

and some day

after multiple kits

you wont be able to tell

what the heck…

but you will have

plenny resin

for whatever you wish…

…ambrose…
