I was just hoping for a bit of help. I was over in France last week (from the UK) and was in one of the surf shops and spotted an effects surfboard that i liked the look of. I did’nt buy as it was a bit pricey on a whim but the damn board has stuck in my mind. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about them. I have found a small amount of info but nothing much. I was hoping for ride reports, durability and general opinions also with the risk of opening up cans of worms here i dont do far east non surfer manufacturer. Its just a personal thing for me so no offence intended to anyone. so if anyone knows where they are made that would be great. Any contact details UK or France would be great.
Never heard of it in France. I searched the web and found out it is a brand wholesaled by HOFF to local surfshops. HOFF is a major French importer in the european surf industry.
What it appears to be is that Effect Surfboards is a brand created by the marketing guys at HOFF and the boards are built by an asian manufacturer. HOFF then wholesale it to european retailers. In fact, HOFF owns the domain name effectsurfboards.com and the adress for the brand Effect Surfboards is the adress of the HOFF headquarters.
Technology wise, these boards are machine shaped from EPS 28kg/m3 and laminated with epoxy with 6+4oz on bottom and 4oz+8oz biaxial + 2oz. Some other models have a compsand structure with bamboo and CF.
