I have an 8’ fun shape I love but I hate the graghics. I’d love to refinish and paint it; any pointers? It’s got some dents and dings, any reason why I wouldn’t add another layer of glass?

It’s got some dents and dings, any > reason why I wouldn’t add another layer of glass? …I just finished restoring a board that was custom shaped for me in 1973…It needed foam & glass repairs…As a final finish I went to the local automotive paint supply store, and got some very good auto paint…It was a two part paint with another additive for chemical resistance(gas, thinners…)…The board was wet sanded to 220…I thinned the paint considerably, and applied it with an HVLP sprayer…It dried to the touch in about 20 minutes…The paint has a real “wet” look to it… I let it cure for about a week before adding some pinstripes around the deck…The auto paint store has some great pinline masking tapes that lay down multiple pinlines with one application…Ask the people at the paint store for suggestions…
Also search Swaylock’s for “restoration” – more good stuff about painting a board. S>>> I have an 8’ fun shape I love but I hate the graghics. I’d love to > refinish and paint it; any pointers? It’s got some dents and dings, any > reason why I wouldn’t add another layer of glass?
