What do I do now?
Thanks
Yes. Looks like it to me. Keep that sander moving.
If you put the resin on too thick when laminating the glass won’t sit tight to the blank but will “float” in the resin and get wavy, so you get those irregular sand throughs like that. Just what it looks like to me anyway, from my little pic on the iPhone. Will disappear with the final coat.
I think that may be it! Only my 2nd time glassing a board - what do I do about that now? Thanks
It will disappear with next coat, no worries.
Nothing you can do now. Just finish it. You need to work on glassing skills so that the lamination is pulled tight and hugs the foam. You will pull off any excess resin, hopefully you didn’t put too much on. Watch a YouTube with a pro and notice the way they pull from the center of the board to the rails and then pull tight and wrap the laps. You can do it good luck
All the best
If you are worried about the spot patch it with a piece of four ounce like any ding repair.
think of it as the glass coming out of hibernation for summer…
…heat makes it thirst for a thick gloss coat.
…thick gloss coat is a no no…
That s nothing man; happened due to your lap was not totally flat and/or the edge of the lap is protruding (too much resin there and without sanding); then the deck layers copy that and the sander or the block flat out all and occurs that.
Before the gloss coat, clean and fill those couple of pinholes; sand them; then prepare everything for the finish coat.
Oh yes of course a thin gloss coat, bout an eighth of an inch will do it…
Can’t you guys detect the sarc?
