Just wanted to say Hello to all my name is Mike Hawkins and I am located in Ft.Pierce, Fla. plus I am the Owner/Shaper of Sonic Surfboards …
Welcome Mike.
If you’ve got surf things to show and tell there are lots of people here who want to see.
If there’s things you want to know I’m sure there’s someone here to help.
I hope you make good boards and are ready for swaylocks to help make them better.
Have fun.
Welcome aboard Mike

Mike,
Good to hear from/see Ft Pierce here on Swaylock’s.
Lived there on and off '69 to '72 in the days of Sol Surf Shop when John ? and “Boston” had the shop south of town then John moved it north up near the “Palamino” if I remember right(the Palamino was a classic bar/dance scene where the music lasted into the wee hours then they’d serve breakfast after which we’d often head straight to North Jetty when it was just a dirt parking lot with alot of great surfing happening).
Best thing I got from it all was a 7’ Tomb & Reeves board I ordered through Sol. Made up in Melbourne, they were state of the art in '69. It was one of those “Wish I had it now boards” with a pulled in nose +/- 12 1/2 x 20 x 12 1/2 soft diamond tail with about the strongest glass job I’ve ever seen. It went nose first into a piling at Huntington Beach and only got a slight chip during a trip west.
Don’t know if you were around back then but seeing your post brought up some great memories. Ft. Pierce was a great place for surfing back then and a wonderful scene. If only the locals hadn’t cheered at the end of Easy Rider when it was shown - longhairs weren’t given much respect around town back then.
Hope things are still good down there.
Pete
I am not to possitive If I can make it that day to 2nd light but if I can my brother and I will be there.
Pete, This county has changed ALOT in the past two years. But the waves have only gotten better in the last two the bottm has changed a bit and first peek is starting to break once again. Only bad thing you can count on 200 plus people on a waist high day.
