I currently have a 9’0"x22 1/4"x 3" watercooled performance longboard with thin rolled rails, 2+1 fins, rocker 4 1/2 at tail 5 1/2 at nose, narrower tail and nose. I really like the board on bigger days but now looking to add another for those knee to thigh high days. I’m going to build a hollow wooden board for my next one but can not decide on the design yet. I’m trying to decide on either a 9’6" or a 10’0" single fin. Here is a 9’6" retro noserider I was mocking up. I’d love to hear what you all think. Thanks
I like it.
But I wouldn’t go wider than 23". This will make your outline a little more “parallel” in the middle… which is great for trim.
outline looks fun!
maybe flatten the nose rocker out , or take the belly out of the curve in it from the center up; the less curve you have up there the better the tail is gonna hold in. curve in the front end of the board is going to want to act like a pivot point once you get past it (cross-stepping-wise) and can lift the tail out prematurely…hope that is coherent as its a little early for me still!
Thanks NJ_surfer. Ya I’m not going wider then 23" but I do need to go back and fine tune the design to give me 23" exactly. This was a quick mock up to get some feedback.
Thanks again for the feedback!!
Thanks for the feedback Surferguy80. I understand exactly what you are talking about. The nose rocker was the area that I was fighting with the most. Do you think taking the nose rocker down to 3 1/2" is to much?
Thanks again for the help.
3 1/2 is a good number, the curve i often times the more important part though, work with it and post the new one!
Ok what do you guys think of this one.
The tail rocker is the same height but I pulled the rocker back alittle to help flatten out the belly. I think I may like the original tail rocker design better but do like this nose rocker better.
the difference between 'bigger" and “smaller” days on the Gulf is not that mush range. One LB outght cover it all. I’d say build a big fish. Also, if you go with another LB, I’d go with more, not less rocker since Gulf waves are have shorter period and be pearling more often. I like the Clarke 9-5 rocker. Look on Foam EZ for a catalog. Just another opinion.
