Hey all- I was hoping someone might have a solution or quick fix. I recently purchased a 1966 hansen 50/50 with glass-on doyle fin. the fin is set to the board properly (perpendicular to stringer and set straight) however the fin is lightly bent/warped to one side at the tip (probably only a few degrees). I haven't ridden the board and it probably will not be noticable when being surfed but its abit bothersome to me. Are there any methods to fixing the warp? i believe the fin is wood with fiberglass and resin over it? thanks in advance for the helpful suggestions
The fin is glass mat and cloth, done in three colored layers. What is the board number, and any letters or symbols, associated with the number? I was shaping there at the time.
bill i looked at the board- no seriel number or special marking. also the board does not have the 50-50 lam does that mean it was not a 50-50. it has the doyle fin and four hansen cardiff lams- the board is 9'6 24 wide- about 19 at the nose and 17.5-18 in the tail. pretty foiled 50-50 rails but not extremely knifey- roughly 3 to 3.25 thick. Bill do you think the color was added on later or is it original
Because of the placement of the lams in relation to the color, it's probably original. It absolutely IS a 50/50. ALL boards had numbers on the stringer, deckside, near the glass tailblock. Look there. The board may have been made for one of the guys at the factory. Many times they would go ''sticker mad'' for a non-production appearance. The fin is original to the 50/50, as well as to the Doyle Model. If there is truely no number, then it makes me more convinced that it was made for one of the guys at the factory.
