Help - how to take the load of the deck skin? + more questions

To compsanders on this forum,

Still trying to understand how to transfer all the load, as a result of bending, to the rails? That should give ultimate parabolic boost right? And also prevent your deck from failing, since the strong rail carries the load now.

Or… how does energy travel through a medium? What ways does it follow? Is that why decks are concaved by bert? Because the form leads the energy to the rails?

Other than that…

Does anybody fillet the deck skin to the rail?

Did anybody use Resin Research 2020 yet with balsa? How is the penetration?

Thanks for any insight.

well i used kinetics and felt it was a little stiff for my liking and to thick to use easily

i had a sample of RR and it was thick and bubbled like crazy

i imagine they have similar properties

good if you want cosmetics

for my personal use however i prefer infusion resins with slow hardeners

they are more flexible and durable

however they do go yellow

ive decided id rather have a yellow board that flexes and i can jump on upside down

then a pretty one that is too stiff and snaps

i mean this kinetics board was surftech stiff

nothing like ive built before

i know its heresy round here

but if you haven’t built a compsand that flexes like my videos yet

i suggest you try some other epoxys and build methods

Blasphemy!

kidding…y’know what, depending on what’s underneath, the yellow can look quite good.

W, 2020 is real good stuff for compsand…but its just one piece of the puzzle. there are many ways of going about it…thinking and talking wont get you very far…best way to learn is by doing…and making mistakes is a great teacher…it takes a few boards to get things dialed…if you cant afford to make mistakes, find a cheaper hobby…surfing is a good one.
