Help I got stuff sticking in/on my lamcoat

Howzit,

I was doing cutlaps and used aluminum foil to cover the racks. I flipped the board and cut the laps, so far so good.

What I missed at that point was the 1. I still had too much resin in the cloth, 2. the cloth was still wet.

This plus the fact that I forgot to pull it off caused a disaster…

The foil is sticking to my lam and the worst move I could make was the attempt to sand the foil down on the spots where the resin pooled under the foil.

Now I finally did a good glassjob with aluminumflakes stuck in the weave.

Has anyone made an equal experience or knows how I can get out of that misery or am I the only one clumsy enough to screw up so bad?

Thanks

Geef

we have all screwed up …some just like to deny it .

Spray / tint / pigment the board silver , put silver glitter flakes in your lam coat , make some silver fins , and no-one will know it was an accident .

Who knows , you might even pick up a mermaid during one of your dawn patrols …

worse things have happened at sea …

ben

…I have always wanted to do a silver and / or gold glitter board …seriously .

or a barracuda. but, hey…whatever works, right?!

Whoever told you to use foil gave you poor advice. WAX PAPER does not adhere to resin or simply use a fresh wrap of 3-M #233 on the racks next time.

If they’re just small pieces you may be able to scrape them off using a razor blade. With the blade perpendicular to the lam, use quick back and forth motion w/ moderate pressure.
