help on getting a fish

whats the general rule on choosing the length of a fish.I heard to many different suggestions from 2-4" to 6-8" shorter than what you usually ride.I live in va.beach and I want a fish that will work well in knee to waist high waves.I’m 5’7" and 167 pounds and ride 6’2" thuster.thanks for any response.steve

When you go over 22" wide, you gotta make it 10" shorter than your tri.

If your new fish is to be 20" wide, maybe only 3-4" shorter.

Really good surfer bud of mine, rides a 5’6" x 22 fish at 180lbs. It floats better than his CI Flyer 6’4"er.

Four to six inches shorter than your everyday board or to your forehead depending on age and surfing ability and so forth. Mike

I was thinking about getting xanadu epoxy fish.there are three different sizes 5’8",19 1/2 wide,2in. thick-5’10" 19 3/4 wide,2 1/16in.-6’ 20 wide,and 2 1/8 thick.so I figure the 5’10" would be the best board for me.thanks guys

The old advice was as tall as you are.

I’m 5’11 152 lbs

my twin keel fish is 5’8

had it out last night in bowly chest high peaks and this morning in real swell head high w/ bigger drops and sections and lined up…board works awesome, as fast as anything in the water this morning

I also had to fight the east drift this morning…held just as well as anyone on a longboard, but then again, I paddle fairly well.

also works in high tide wind slop and waist high bowls

so by going with my height and weight and wave conditions which size of the three should I get?
