help with fin placement

This is my 9th garage built board and the shortest.  It's 4'11", 21 1/2 wide, 2 3/4 thick.  I need to set it up as a quad but Im not sure about fin placment as its so short.  Is 11 inches up still good for this small a board?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Also Im using FCS fusion system for the first time....  Its hard to wrap my head around glassing over the fin box and then sanding through the glass.  Is that really all there is to it?

Fusions are hard the first couple of times. Look in the archives on tips on how to install. A good way to do them is to roll back the cloth, drip resin around the box hole curves, lay the football patches down and lam as usual. if you see an airbubble, fill er up with resin. It'll look kinda bluish green from resin buildup around the hole, but after hotcoating and sanding it will become clear.

As for quad set up, i just did a super short "pod" type of board for a friend. I have found that an edge setup one a tail that is super wide lacks drive, and is a bit tracky. On my buddy's board I went with Rusty's recommendation on surfline(look in the archives or google it). He loves the board, and says itis super fast and drivey, but loose enough to rip and bust out some fins   every once in a while.

good luck, and let me know if you found the rusty article
