Help with pricing an old board

I am hoping someone here can help me. I was given an old surfboard not to long ago, and unfortunately am moving and can’t take it. As I started researching, I noticed that some older boards are worth a lot of money! Can anyone offer some advice on pricing this board to sell? It is a Harbour surf board, in pretty decent condition (except for a few dings). From what I understand, it is from the late 60s or early 70s. It is a short board.

Thanks so much for your help!

Pictures please.

I can’t help but I like board porn!

60’s or late 70’s is a huge difference. If it’s an old log, i.e. pre 1967, and it has no dings or just 1 ding, brown spots, then it’s worth about 1,500 to 2,500. depending on the model.

If it’s a 70’s board. Diamond tail, round pintail, single fin, no dings, clean, color? airbrush? maybe you could get 750-1500.

Now with all that said. There is the market price, then there is the freak show auction, guys with so much money they don’t know what to do with it price. They have fucked up the price of old boards better than the antique road show could ever dreamed of.

So, unless your board is in really good condition…I mean really good condition, and unless you come up with a few pictures to back it up. I’d be guessing your board is a standard 1970-72 6’8"-7’3" Harbour surfboard with 3-6 dings, a brown spot or 4, and a loose fin, and a leash cup. Oh yeah someone drilled the fin or added the leash plug…that kills the deal too, so best case it would be worth $150-$350 to someone.

I hope you got a gem…but most guys with real clean surfboards don’t let them go. If it’s clean keep it, hang it on the wall until you can surf it again. If it was given to you…pass it forward to someone who would appriciate it?

You asked for an opinion.

Whaddya mean? Antiques Roadshow has done shows around surfboards and surf collectibles already. They’re working in kahootz with your “they”.

So ctrae1, we need to see photos of the board. Include details like writing, logos, dings, or anything that can help us determine a value. You should also tell us where the board is located.
