I have this 7’4" Ewaliko Stinger that I really love. However, on mushy days (most often) the single fin leaves a lot to be desired. I’m considering adding either side bites, or even quad has crossed my mind.
Pretty nervous about taking power tools to a nice finished board! So some suggestions on placement would be nice for both side bites and quad and also some insight on what would work better and why.
I got the router tuned and ready to destroy!
Thanks, P.S. Ewaliko makes some NICE boards!

First of all, never be afraid of taking power tools to a board!
Sink a couple of FCS plugs an inch or two ahead of the box (for single-tab fins), an inch and a half in from the rails, get a skinny, raky single fin, and off you go.
[edit ps] get- or make- some little single-tab fins for the FCS plugs, about 3- 3-1/2 inches high with a short (2 inch) base.

So side bite placement may not necessarily be the same as 2 + 1 on a longboard?
Simple solution:
FCS side bits 15" up from tail for the back fin placement.
Use some GL FCS with a 6" fin. I like Rusty’s template (Thin Clear foil)
I have found this set up to yeild good performance on mini mals to High Performance Longboards.
Your outline would work as a quad as well. However at that point just take the one you have and add the side bites.
Make a second one with the same shape and do a quad set up. I believe you will be stoked. I’m sure the board was made off a cnc file so just have the same shaper make the same exact board with the Quad system.
If this kind of board is working for you and you are comfortable with it’s design stay with it and play around. Fins are such an important part of a surfboard. They can make or break a way a board performs.
