Herb, does this shape look familiar?

I bought this brand new in 1992…it’s seen better days but I’m going to reproduce it for my grandson…

groovy man ,

are you going to restore THAT one too, hicksy ?

That would go GREAT at kinross , and nedlands , and perry lakes , and kings park bowls !

cheers

ben

And…how about your 12’ surfboard …is that in the rafters there ?? …summer is a-coming quickly !!

I think it’s a bit past it to properly restore Chip, I won’t chuck it though.

I’ll do my best to reproduce it, I’ll do a few and see how it goes…

The 12’er is still in the rafters for the time being, not really in my interest zone at the moment…

Do you want a copy too??? Got plenty of wood… just supply the wheels and trucks…

Templating it tonight…

a 12 FOOTER??? Don’t tell me the wozzies are getting into the whole paddle-board shpiel eh!!!

LOL!

Would you wear one of those aussie hats with corks on strings when paddling??

Well… I guess chip would…

{edit}

ROFL!!!

{EDIT2}

I’m ona roll here… this one is even better!!!

Viva Mechikoooo!!

Awe shoot man… I didn’t mean to hijack this thread into a funny hat discussion, forgive me please it’s monday morning here and I missed out on a good dawnie… wOOt!

Hicksy,

That’s the last of the wide boards of the that era.It was most likely mfg. in the late 80s.

By the early 90’s boards were already getting narrow/double kicked and a bit shorter ,more geared for street use,due to all the skateparks of the 70s vanishing into a pile of rubble.

Oh,by-the-way,It looks like a Vision “Gator”.Wanna know who mfg. it ?

Good stuff Herb,

I’m pretty sure it’s a Powell & Peralta…correct me if I’m wrong…

It used to be hot pink with some amazing graphics on the bottom…

That’s why noone bought it I suppose…except good ol’ colour blind me…

I templated it last night, cut out one side and I’ll mirror that once it’s cleaned up…

Hicksy ,

This look like a Powell dream ripper deck , i have bout 300++ old skool decks in my collection . . .

Good luck on restoring it .

A …

I also remember the nose being a little more pointier, It’s had a hard life, but it never broke.

Looking at it side on you can see about 7 layers of fibrous material (might be wood but may not be) with a definate top and bottom skin…

The whole deck is concave throughout, even the kick is scalloped out…

it would be fun to restore , I’d give it a go if you like hicksy [won’t be doing much else this summer I guess ! HOW’S the flat surf and summer early onshore wind patternswe are getting already ? crazy !] That run of surf we had a few weeks back , with banks , and offshores , while Josh was here , was definately an out of season blessing …but now summer reality is fast upon us …[time to get full time work ??? gaaads …]

ben

The 7 layers are maple…or suppose to be.

Looks more like a Gator now,but AnDi is probably correct. There were so many similar shapes during the late 80s that to sand them clean, you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart.Herb

Hey,

AnDi,PM me I got some old schoolers I’ll bet you don’t have including an original plexyglass deck complete,Grentec GT,Roller derbys, etc…or ya and a cherry complete w/ streets, Powell/Peralta 89/90 Guerrero.++++Herb
