When I paint the hot coat with acrylic should I use it stratghtb from the > tube or dilute it with water and will it be OK to put Gloss on after? If you paint over hotcoat, make sure the surface is clean and as grinder mark-free as possible(sand to 320 minimum).MIX YOUR PAINTS WITH WATER,until you get it to a cream like thickness, then add a couple oz. of alcohol(the paint not you). …Make sure your paint is strained, and you don’t get it to thick on the surface of the board, give it a day to dry, then gloss.Herb

Yo Herb what does the alchohol do? It makes the paint dry a little faster. I’ve used it with tempra paint before but it doesn’t make that much difference. It can be tricky to use, if you add to the paint at the wrong time when thinning you can mess up your paint. I don’t use it anymore, just let your paint dry on it’s own. Spray a coat then take a break, have some lunch, play with the kids, etc. Problems arise from not letting your paint dry completely. Crystallazation occurs when the heat from resin kicking off draws the moisture out of the paint.
