I think the Freebord came up in one of the odd skateboard threads a few months ago and you expressed some interest. If It was someone else or some other skate, I apologize, and hopefully they’ll see this thread too…
They’re pretty fun. I rode one there a way’s back with my one buddy who rides for their team. I’m a pretty middlin’ to sucky snowboarder, and so I’m a pretty sucky Freeborder. But the feeling is the same. Except the falls. Ashphalt isn’t deep powder, fo’ sure.
When Dave rides it, it’s really something. I followed him down some huge hills, and he was in perfect control. I’ve seen the landyahtz (longskate manufacturer) guys try these same ones, and they had too much speed to make the corners and had to run out. If you get to try one, do it.
I’ve seen the 2 wheeled model and I can work out how that works but do you have 6 wheels on the ground or only 2 when you are riding it or a combination of 2 and 4 wheels.
I saw footage of this on a sunday arvo programme here called “cactus garden” , and it seems to resemble the slidey turns of snowboarding more than a carving surfing type turn . I got the impression it’s more front foot type turning , from what they showed , and said. [Did any of you other aussites happen to see the footage?]
All the guys they interviewed were snowboarders , riding these during our [snowless] summer , to stay in shape and practice their turns.
…Looked like a lot of fun !!
if I snowboarded , I would definately get one of these …
