Hey Herb

Thanks a bunch, I got the fins on Friday. Since the site was down I was able to inform you until today. They look great. I will send you some flow next week when I get paid. I know that is not what it is all about, but I figure I could at least buy you lunch for the fins and all the great tips. Thanks again. Oh yeah in the latest edition of eastern surf magazine ( a free newspaper type mag ) Greg Loher has an ad for his resin research company. In the ad he has a few swallow tail twin fins with MVGs on the tips of the swallow tail. I thought I saw a board of yours with the chargers on the swallow tail tips? I am I correct? Does this increase board response at slower speeds? What do you think of MVGs, especially on thursters right in front of the trailier?

Mike: Is Greg a resource for blanks and Epoxy? Seems that I had a flyer from Resin Research some years ago that listed the S2000 series of Epoxy products and a small note about the blanks too. I’ve picked up a couple of the ESM magazines and am impressed with some of the articles. They did a really good one on Greg Loehr some months ago. I had some of the Epoxy Gospel read to me today, visited a well known epoxy builder today and was impressed with the product. Choosing the right EPS seems to be the key. Thanks. Yes,I’ve done them, Clyde Beatty is backing them,as well.I incorperate them into my tail tip reinforcers…what you have to do with a thruster is to put them one on each side a quarter template ahead of the center fin.Herb

Received your letters today. Thanks, hope they workout for you guys. Rob yours are going out tomorrow …and by the way, do you know Mike d. ???Herb.

Is Greg a resource for blanks and Epoxy? Yes Greg is a source for eps blanks and epoxy resin. However it seems to me that if you are not buying several at a time it is difficult to get your blanks done in a timely manner, or at all for that fact. A friend and I had a difficult time getting blanks from him. He is down in the Sattelite beach area (south of cocoa). I met a guy that goes by Buddah out of Holly Hill (south of daytona). He has been doing epoxy (poly too) for 15 years + and does excellent work. He does Promotion, Buddah Shapes, Vision Sufboards, and Clever is also done at his factory. He is very reliable and will get you what you want, whether or not you provide your own rocker templates. He helped me out a bunch when I was doing my first epoxy board. He uses 2lb. eps foam with pvc stringers. If you want I can post his number for you. Buddah suggested that I use the ss2000 resin from surfsource. It worked out well (it would have been even better if I hadn’t glassed when it was 40 degrees out). Let me know if you want to contact him. Good luck.

what you have to do with a > thruster is to put them one on each side a quarter template ahead of the > center fin.Herb That’s interesting I have only seen them placed where there is a single strip right in front of the trailer. By the way Herb, you are a Hendrix fan aren’t you? A buddy of mine just got a soundboard recording from a Hendrix show. From what he told me the quality is good. It is from the early 70’s. I will burn you one and send it out. Thanks again.

Yes,my younger bro.Ray plays Hendrix well!He regularly plays with the heavy wts. like Buddy Miles,Billy Cox,as well,he has in the past, played with some legends like S.R.V.Herb.

Yes Greg is a source for eps blanks and epoxy resin. However it seems to > me that if you are not buying several at a time it is difficult to get Mike: Any idea of where the PVC stringer material comes from, in other words where would you look for the stock material to put these in your own blanks? I’ve glued up a couple of polystyrene blanks using Luann Mahogany plywood used for skinning door panels. Pretty easy to use and cheap enough to consider hotwiring and putting stringers in your own foam. TS>>> your blanks done in a timely manner, or at all for that fact. I will ask Buddah and get back to you. I will put a call in when I get home today. I don’t know if you have ever worked with it before, but it shapes just like basswood, if not better. I’ll let you know what I find out.

Hey Herb, Thanks for the prompt turn around on fins. I’ll be sure to let ya know how they do. Haven’t met Mike D. Looks like he’s nearby, though. Take care, Rob.
