this things on sale for $99, should i pick one up?

Hey,

What are you going to use it for?

Just blowing off board will be fine.

But for painting, the tank is a bit small.

I paid $200 for an 18gallon. Can do a full coat ,even two coats, with wide spray nozzle in one tank no problem.

figure ill only be painting pin lines and small areas, not any full board sprays or anything. I checked the archives and it seems everyone recomends the 20+ gallon tanks but like i said im not planing on large paint jobs, just little things.

Sounds like you should be okay then. Still give another thought of buying a bigger tank. Those things are loud as hell and take time to fill up. Smaller the tank the more is has to refill and the more noise.

Yes very loud. I would spend a little more for a bigger tank and a belt driven model. There is a world of difference.

Howzit rick. That compressor looks like a oil less compressor and they are way loud but if it’s a oil compressor then it should be some what quieter but will need a filter to keep the oil from contaminating the paint or leaving any on the board when blowing it off. I had a Coleman that was so loud it scared one of my friends kid when it kicked on one day. I like the belt driven compressors since that are quiet and use less electricity. My latest one is a Senco oil splash that is so quiet, but it cost $325.00. Aloha,Kokua

my compressor is a lot smaller than that and works fine for full (short) board sprays. the price looks good too. I’d get it.

Bought the same one for use at home about a year ago (same sale price). It uses oil, not too loud, tank is way small so it’s on a lot. It drives my brad nailers, staplers, air wrenches, sand blaster, and small detail sprayer fine, but I don’t use it for more than about 1 hour/week. I use a much larger Craftsman at the shop, and the only problem I’ve had is replacing the auto-shut off switch once in 5 years. Like any other tool, if you’re going to give it heavy use on a daily basis, buy a good one that you can depend on. Other people that I know who have HF compressors have had a lot of problems with the regulators, shut off switch, and leaks.

Yes… definitely go for a bigger tank!
