I have read through the archives trying to determine what exactly this is, but getting more confused - does this term refer to shape, fin set up, rocker or combination of all.
I want a longboard in the nine foot range that is easy to ride in thigh to head high beach break, some point break, waves. Just want to go down the line as fast and as easily as possible and want it to be easy to turn, when it is necessary to turn, neither nose-riding or radical maneuvers are a priority, the more glide the better. I weigh 185 lbs.
So, I was thinking along the lines of a “traditional” shaped 9-2 with a single fin. But a lot of boards are set up as thrusters. Does either one have a particular advantage in turning from forward of the back of the board when you are in trim? (i.e. by just leaning whee you wnat to go) I realise any board is ultimately a compromise, but I call on your collective wisdom! Thanks.
high performance longboard = real light,rockerd,curvy outline,thruster,shortboard rail setup,flat bottom,or lightly concaved,thin,plus thin rails…
that is one extreme , if thats what you want in a longboard ,include the above points ,but what you said points to just some of those characteristics mentioned above and some of LeeDD’s combined …
If you have a shop that sells Stewarts go take a look at the Jeff Kramer model.
Performance longboards are a tad thinner, sharper down rails, some vee and usually a single to double barrely concave. Single box plus side bites . They tend to have more rocker than a traditionla longboard and, as said above are glassed a little lighter.
