high performance SUPs

specifically to carve nalu or to anyone who shapes and rides SUPs, what kind of rails and contours are you guys using, I saw a video of you riding number 15 or 16 and you surfing SOO fast, and parmenter is snapping his cutbacks like crazy. Are there any VEE bottoms on those or just double barrel? How hard are those rails or are you just using soft rails, because I saw bonga getting some serious tip time on his red board. The reason why I am asking is I am having a 12 footer shaped and I want the board to have the best of both worlds, round nose for walking but maybe a little harder rail in the back, if you could just give some examples of what you are riding in hawaii

isnt’ that what your shaper is supposed to do/advise you about?

this is going to be his first SUP and he keeps asking me what how do I want this to be, and I just dont want to be reinventing the wheel after chambers, parmenter, and todd bradley have put alot of time into R&D, thats all

How fast is SOO fast?. . . faster than SO fast? If so how much faster ?

When you have combos of buoy readings like the ones posted at the bottom, reefs that hold the periods and swells, no continental barriers and good surfers who can ride the speedy waves.

for such big boards these guys are not cruising like most longbgoards do, blane chambers looked like he was on an elongated shortboard not a triple stringer cruiser. What king of rails and bottom contours do you put on your star and dragon boards? Have you ever stand up paddled on any of your wooden boards?

Is this your first SUP? If so, your biggest issue is learning how to paddle it. Also your weight does play a factor. Make the deck flat, rails boxy , bottom flat to vee. Keep it 28" to 31" wide and at least 4" thick.

As you get better, you can go shorter.

12’3" x 20" x 28" x 18" x 4"

I hope this helps.
