A friend is getting together his shaping tools. The Hitachi P20SB planer is sold at clark and I know is modified a bit (deep cut capability, etc.). Anyway we found Hitachi P20SBK planers a lot cheaper at a hardware store. Has anyone used on of these? Is it basically the setup as the P20SB from clark minus the few modifications they made? In no way will it be used in any type of production setup. Just a few here and there.

Just a few here and there. …It’s basically the samething without the quick ajustment,ya for a novice, a once in a while,or a back-up for your back-up,it will work fine. …J.P. SAID HE FOUND SOME KNOCKOFFS FOR LIKE $20.00 SOMEWHERE,you can archive that info.Herb
I’m just a few boards now and then for friends and me type of builder…I used an hitachi knockoff for my frist few boards…lately I’ve upgraded to a clark hitachi that I got cheap and in need of bearing. If I had to buy something to start…I would pay the money and start with something that you can control the depth of cut on…It makes a great deal of difference…
