Hobie Alter Jr. watching ProBox

Thought you guys would like to see the exciting Sat. I had watching Roger Hinds of Country Surfboards installing ProBoxes in his Personal board shaped by Terry Martin in the original Hobie glass shop with Hobie Alter Jr. watching. While Terry Martin was in the back shaping away. What a treat for me being in the presence of some legendary guys. Mahalo,Larry

ahhhhh!

thats where you were…

K

Sorry for mistake on earlier post couldn’t get the pic.

Any way here’s Roger Hinds marking the placement of his ProBoxes on this Tri Fin set-up of his. Mahalo,Larry

Here’s Roger Hinds routering out the holes to install ProBoxes. Mahalo

Here’s Roger routing out a 2+1 he shaped a couple of days before. Mahalo

Here’s another board Roger shaped. This is a Twin Fin. Roger is now ready to install these boxes, but Roger is going to do something different. Before I go on I want you guys to tell me what Roger is forgetting to do or not to do. Remember I said he is now ready to install the ProBoxes in the board. ANSWER PLEASE! Mahalo

???

Sand and acetone the box’s

cover the tops and plug the screws

drag a nail?

order a pizza ???

Ken, You are classic (-: I will have extra cheese on mine. You are right let me add a few more pics and I will ask again what is missing. Mahalo

Here’s Roger coming back with the last of the glass to cut the football shapes for all three boards. Mahalo

Ken, Here is Roger doing the Acetone wipe carefully. Mahalo

You were right Ken, Roger does not use the peel and stick. I even get nervous watching Roger do this step. But I guess after 3 years of installing ProBoxes Roger almost can do this with his eyes closed.

WARNING I would not try this step at home unless Roger was there.LOL

Well I hope you guys enjoyed a look inside a day at the Hobie factory with Roger Hinds. Mahalo,Larry

Hey Larry,

is Roger starting to make boards full time again for the general public or just special customers?

Hi Mike, Roger Hinds works full time out of the Hobie Factory. You can order boards shaped by Terry Martin or Roger Hinds and Roger laminates all the boards coming out of the Hobie Factory. Call Shawn Hagger at Hobie in San Juan Capristano to order boards and tell him Larry sent you. Mahalo,Larry

nice little plunge router

easternpacific, The router is by Trend. You can see more details on the router at our ProBox website. Mahalo, Larry

Hi Ray, Always nice to hear from you. I don’t think anything else has changed with Hobie. Roger Hinds is a new addition to the Hobie Family. Keep up the creative projects Ray, love seeing your amazing retros. Mahalo,Larry
