Uponone,

That’s a nice piece of workmanship. Hope it rides as well as it looks.

Thanks for the comments!!

Congratulations. Beautiful board. Was that #1? What kind of wood did you use. My guess is cedar. It’s really nice. Also, did you glass with poly or epoxy? The gloss is great

Thanks for the comments! Yes, that is #001. Its all cedar, glassed with epoxy. That shine is without any sanding…I want to sand the whole board to take out some blemishes but I don’t want to loose the shine. I tried sanding a small spot in the back…500grit, 1000grit, 2000grit, then I waxed it. But the finish is a lot duller than the rest of the board. Any hints tips for that HIGH gloss finish??

You have to wet and dry through to around 1200 grit then buff it with compound. You need a sander that can handle at least a 7 inch buffing pad.

Sand and spray with Polyurethane 2 pac.

Really good effort with the board, congrats on a great job…

man, that is a very beautiful surfboard. you must be stoked. congratulations! let us know how it rides.
