hope you know about longboards.

I just recently got into longboarding again, after several years without one in my quiver. I dont understand the longboard nearly as well as i do boards under seven feet of all shapes and sizes. im very curious about the rockers.

Wth no regard to the nose rocker, heavy tail rocker makes the board nose ride better, correct? what classifies heavy tail rocker in a longboard? 3 inches? 4 inches? ive heard of some being made with 5 inches of rocker. that sounds rediculous.

what about nose rocker? it seems like a board with more then 3 inches of nose rocker would not be capable of a nose ride. I dont care how high performance a longboard is, if it is incapable of a nose ride it is not a longboard. how much does an inch of nose rocker effect a logs nose riding capabilities? if one were to bring down the nose rocker from three inches to two inches would the effects be drastically different? or is it more in the hands of the rider, what he is capable of and what he is more comfortable with?

is the teardrop nose concave typically the most versatile method of accomplishing a board that nose rides?

fill me in please.

Well, there are two schools of thought on tail rocker and noseriding. One being the more tail rocker, the more the board will be stalled in the pocket and able to be ridden on the nose. The other school says that going faster to beat sections is important while on the nose, so less noserocker is better. Both types of rocker are applicable depending on wave conditions i.e low tide zippers or high tide mushballs.

Nose rocker on noseriders is usually minimal except on bender boards. And as for concaves, I’m not really sure I’ve only had one noserider with concave and it works good.

bringin it to the top
