I haven’t glassed a board in 7 years, I just shaped myself a new 7’4" x 22" x 3.25", 15.5" Nose, 16.5" Tail neutral midpoint with a swallow tail today.
I remember the lam takes 1% catalyst, can someone please remind me what % I need for the hotcoat?
I think you’ll have better results when you lam if you use 1/2 the amount of catalyst for 1%. In other words: 1% for one quart = 9cc. So, for lam, use 41/2cc for one quart. I’ve used this formula on a suggestion from a Swaylockian, and it works great, because it gives you enough time to get the job done without panic. Doug
Howzit Backyarder, I use 15 cc’s catalyst for what ever amount of resin since a bigger board require a longer working time and a short board less working time. The main thing is to do it as fast as you can so the resin will smooth out and even. Usally within 1 or 2 minutes after brusing the resin kicks.Aloha,Kokua
