How did you get here????

As I was reading the writeup in Longboard mag, I started wondering how everyone found this site. Did you see it in the magazine? Mike, did you do any advertising??? Word of mouth? Search engines? I found it through a search on the internet after some friends and I were discussing making a board about 5 months ago. Since I have found it, I have told everyone I know. Some of my friends have/are going to one of the places on the resource page to get some boards made…just wondering… GF

Don’t really remember (I’m too young to have these senior moments) It’s become my favorite site. Whereas I was never interested in building a board, or even fixing a ding. Because of the wealth of info. that flows through these threads, I have started repairing my own small ding’s and hopefully some day in the future will attempt to build a board. I also, never really put much thought into the technical asspect of the sport/lifestyle, but seems lately all I’m doing is printing & compiling info. from the site. Just a word of thanks for those who do post this valuable info. and too you Mike, for having this wonderful site. R.I. surfer (Fred)

Saw a post on alt.surfing about BruceJones.com and that they had info about Clark foam blanks. That was about 3 years ago. Then someone put a post on the BruceJones discussion group about this site. Totally viral. Let me say that I truly enjoy this forum – I have long wished a newsgroup for shapers existed on the web and was very pleased to see that someone had the ambition to bring it about. Through a post on the Bruce Jones site (like many others here it seems…). Swaylock’s is certainly one of the best spots for surfboard info on the web. I actually hit the site through Anthonys’ link; didn’t understand what was being discussed; marked it as a favorite but didn’t come back for a couple of months; shaped my first board; came haulin’ back to the site as everything started making sense after my initial hilarious attempt to shape a stick. Oh yeah, my wife of thirteen years has no comment on this hobby – she has always been very politically correct.

Late last year I was looking for information in google.com on surfboard design and it came up in the listings. I read every single post I could get my cursor on. The most valuable site for surfboard design interaction on the internet, actually it’s the ONLY discussion site with the real deal on the internet that I’ve found.
