I just snapped the center fin on my JC. I have it set up with the Futures fin system. I’ve tried to take it out, but I’m having major problems. The fin snapped cleanly at the base, and the base is still inside the fin box. It is in there pretty snug, and I can’t figure out a way to remove the fin, since there is nothing to grab on to. The fin is practically flush with the surface of the board. I tried crazy gluing the fin back on just enough to remove it, but that doesn’t work. I was thinking about glassing the fin back onto the base, and then removing it like that, but I’m not sure if that will hold it, plux I don’t want the fiberglass to drip onto the base of the fin, causing a seal to form with the fin box. I love the idea of the futures fins setups, but I cannot figure out a way to pull out the base (broken piece of fin) that’s still stuck in there. Any suggestions or past experience?

Drill a small pilot hole and use a wood screw to get a point to hold on to.

Drill a small pilot hole and use a wood screw to get a point to hold on > to. Thanks Tom, I didn’t even think of that. That sounds like it might work. I’ll try it out and let you know what happens. Thanks again!
