just laminated the deck bottom was done a week ago, used uv cure lam , how long should i waite to hot coat ?
with UV instantly. if you are so inclined, with UV you can lam both sides and hot coat both sides in about 2 hours on the same day
Yes Sir! Rock On!
What?
It depends on when you can sand your lam down. Have you preped your laps yet...or are you just going to coat those big thick toe nails of laps....then sand them down smooth?
You should sand the laps smooth so when you hot coat you don't have so much work sanding the hot coat.
So the answer to your question is. Are your laps solid enough to sand? if they are green, then you are going to mash the laps, and not cut/sand them down.
So punk do you feel lucky......make my day.
I usually lam one day, then hot coat the next.
Ha! Ha! Dirty Harry of the Lam Schedule!
Of course some really good stuff to remember there for sure Resinhead! You da Man!
But if everything is in order you can definitely flip it in a couple of hours. My little quirk is that I won’t surf the board for about a week or more. I’m just not convinced that all the heavy stuff if done and hard…you know what I mean…like fin boxes and leash plugs etc…Just figure if I’m going through the expense in time and money I can wait a little to make sure it’s good to go. I’m the same way with epoxy…and those I bring inside the house and let them cure for two weeks or more. My problem…like alot of other guys is the damn job I have gets in the way of my board building! So they are built really fast or really slow…depending on what’s going on…

…hey Resinhead,if you have a solid, deep dark color work and you hot coat that lam in the other day, well, king Bubbles is knocking the door…
so, Standishowl lam bottom, wait 2 hours or less depending the weather and your type of room (AC equipment, etc, non of em) lam the deck wait 2 hours or less and apply the hot coat included the laps; wait 2 hours and sand only the laps; (put fins) tape the edge and hot coat bottom (and fins)
wait 24 hrs minimum to sand all the board
wasn't sure if we were talking about that new fangled epoxy stuff, or poly. I've done completed, and surfed fully tinted, boxed, pluged, and gloss polished boards in 1 day....It's been documented here...took exactly 15 hrs, 15 minutes, and 12.4312 seconds. You bet a poly board can be laped, hotcoated, and sanded....in no time.
Bubbles...........what bubbles.....I don't get no stinking bubbles.
thanks guys ,like woody 1963 my day job gets in the way and my lovley kids, so theres periods of waite.
