How to do a deep pearl white lam?

I saw a deep red Pearl lam on a board recently. I don’t know how it was done but it got me thinking. If it can be done in red maybe it can be done in white. Which for mmany reasons is a more practical color for me. Can this be done? Who knows how and could share some tips?

All the best

Hi Greg -

The custom automotive paint guys use a powder additive.  I've heard it mixes OK with fiberglass resins and gives the same sort of effect but I've never seen it on a board.

GregTate,I paint cars and do custom auto paint for a living, funny u posted this because iam going to do a board im shaping pearl white with red and black graphics . I am gonna get it to hotcoat, then base it white,do my pearl over that then layout my graphics and clear the whole board. I did a fish about a year ago this way,(not pearl) and have been real happy with the durability of it! As far as putting pearl (powder form in resin) ive not tried it yet,but would like to do some samples.Fyi,to get a pearl to pop it needs to be over something the will reflect the pearl,if you put it over foam it would not do much i suspect, over white basecoat it will pop more, over colors like red it will really start showing.Good luck and i will post pics soon, this stinkin ipad wont let me . Jeff.
