how to get a stripped screw out of a future fin box

Hello, I’m new here and have a question. I managed to strip the screw that holds one my future side fins in and I have no idea how to remove it now. any help would be greatly appreciated. Brian

Usually it’s the key that strips, and not the screw?? You can try putting a drop of super glue on the tip of an old key and place it in the screw… try not to put too much on - because it will leak into the threads, and that could be very nasty. Let it harden and then back it out. I’ve had success with this method with FCS…

Howzit Brian, Try a small easyout, I’ve used them to remove stripped FCS screws.Aloha, Kokua

had the same problem with an FCS screw, dont see why this wouldnt work: either A)use a key/allen wrench bigger than the one provided B) take a small chisel (spelling?) and place it on the head of the screw. whack it with a hammer a few times so you can use a tiny flathead to unscrew it. Usually this also creates alot of ridges on the screw head so an oversized allen wrench will do the trick too. C)As a last resort, some VERY careful work with a dremel tool. But if you mess up and ruin the thread, you’ll have to re-thread.

the best way i have found (with fcs) is to use a power drill with a flat head screw driver bit that’s just a tiny bit to big to fit into the hole. First, I hammer the bit into the hole with a mallot and the attach the power drill to it and reverse it out. it’s worked for me, sometimes you may need to drill the hole out a little before the bit will fit in to it though. simon
