looks like a Chartreuse, 50/50 yellow green
To me it looks like a plainer yellow sprayed blank (top picture) glassed clear so the laps and patches are visible (bottom picture).
Hard to tell color wise, the top pic has a different Hue than the bottom, so if the real life color of this board is like pic on the top, I believe it is done by mixing a little bit of yellow and a little bit of white. Adding white to your colors generally gives the color a cream aspect. Sam for the bottom pic, but with a touch of lime green in it…
Everything was done in the lam on these pics, no spray, cutlap and tail patch (where layers on fiberglass are superposed, color gets darker).
…when you mix colors is always difficult to obtain an uneven color.
These ones are the easiest however if you look closely you can see the splotches and white areas in the flats. The light of of Sun is saving the picture.
Jrandy, that work color is with resin not paint.
Mangouste, Reverb-
Thanks, both of you do nice colors. I am confused on this one, if color is in the resin, why the stringer is not ‘yellowed’. Is the yellow a tint (translucent) and not a pigment (opaque)? I also have a batch of 6oz cloth that is quite green when 2 layers thick.
Any color that’s not a standard shade requires mixing it with another color and some trial and error before you get what you’re after.
The second photo of this yellow board makes it very obvious this is a tint done in the lamination. The contrast of the fin patch and rail laps are the clue.
Very often opaque pigment is used in small amounts to appear like a tint. Doesn’t fade like tint, color is more even. This one from Roger Hinds was done that way.
Hermanos!!
Thanks a lot for the info
Me too.
Tint not Volan.
Some, I spray a “Faux” tint.
Tough to tell the difference.
