How To?

Dad lost his board in the shorebreak and it hit a rock. How should I fix this ding? It needs some kind of filler, but what exactly?

Hey bolsalogger.

Take a dremel tool with a round stone bit on it and cut the glass and foam away until you have a nice clean hole. Feather the glass around the hole so the layup on the patch will blend into the existing glass. Get a piece of foam and fashion it to fit into the cavity. Put it in with cabosil and laminating resin. Make the plug so it sticks up above the board so you can fair it down. Take it just under the level of the fiber glass and put 3 layers of of whatever glass weight you want on it. Shot a fill coat over the whole thing and fair it out.

Hi, I know what thats like, lost my board last weekend, luckerly I caught up with it before any damage could be done.

when you say “Dad lost his board and it it a rock” do you mean you lost your dad’s board and it it a rock and now you need to get it fixed before he finds out? don’t panic and do a rushed job, make sure that it’s flushed out with some clean fresh water and allowed to dry fully before you attempt a repair, if salt crystals gets trapped under ther repair it will lead to brown staining and will be a dead give away, just pray that he does’nt want to use the board in the mean time.

anyway, good luck with the repiar hope your dads pleased / unsespecting when its finished

Bolsa!!

How the hell could you post such big pics. Wasn’t the limit something around 50kb??

the suncure stuff works well, if you don’t mind sacrificing looks, other wise foam dust mix with lam resin the put a patch over it
