Love it Mike…so much better than discord. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to such a great forum and wealth of information!
I’ve been following Swaylocks since 2004, I think. Just like many others, I didn’t like the Discord episode and this version is so much better. Hi to all the oldies and welcome to all newbies!
Good to see you keeping Swaylocks alive!
I appreciate the email updates, it pushes me back into the forum. I just got the one about the Crystal Voyager film link and that was interesting/relevant content that I probably wouldn’t have stumbled across before it got buried down the page.
From a marketing/user engagement perspective that’s a really good strategy, just share info that’s happening in the forums and direct people back into the forum to remind them it’s here and to get more engagement.
Use FB/Insta/Reddit to reach people where they are at and push them back into the forum to engage with the content.
Just track your Analytics and see where you get the best return on your effort and focus on those channels for notification updates. Automate as much as possible…
It’s great to have Swaylocks back!
Thanks for all the hard work to make it happen Mike.
I’ve had to choose a new user name than my previous one (RDM) due to that one being linked to an email that is no longer viable. Is there anyway to correct that?
I don’t know if anyone is still monitoring this topic, but I just created a new account (I was on old Sways for a long time, but had never been here since the changes), and I see one “feature” that seems to be terminally weird. There appears to be no password security, or security of any kind, for that matter. Can that be so? Any user can log on as any other user? Any user can modify any other user’s post(s)? As an example, I selected “edit” on the initial post for this topic. I did not make any changes, but it sure appeared that I could have done so. What are users’ opinions about this?
You must have some glitch option I am not seeing.
OK. I guess the link email is intended to subsitute for a password. I’m skeptical of the robustness of that approach, but I’ll need to consider it further. The initial post in this thread (presumably all threads) leaves the edit (pen symbol) control exposed, and, when clicked, opens what appears to be an edit window, but on further investigation, it does not seem that any changes can be made. It is, imo, a pretty strange interface.
Hey @Sam_Iam welcome back…and welcome to the new swaylocks and thanks for posting your report here.
I just double checked and I’m pretty sure you can’t edit posts.
If you’re talking about the little pencil next to my name, that’s just showing the version/edits of the original post.
If you can edit the original post, please go ahead and do it and write something in there saying you edited it, and let me know back here…
As a far as the passwordless sign-in, it’s a newer design pattern to make things even more secure as users need a working, valid email address to login. Cuts down on bots, etc. Also makes paid memberships harder to share.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Here to help.
Thanks. No, I was mistaken about edit capability. It’s an unusual use interface, it will take me some time to make up my mind whether I like it or not
