Humidity in EPS Block foam?

Hello,

i have a question for the EPS users.

I have a big foam block, that got wet during transportation, but has been standing dry for at least 2 months now.

The first blanks i cut came out very good, but in the middle of the blank is a cloudlike section that cuts very bad, so my hotwire goes so slow thst it burns

the "normal " sections.

My attempt now is to cut thicker slices and then recut after another week, but i am not sure yet if this will work.

Has anyone experienced and solved the same problem?

Thanks

Jasper

Could just be bad foam. Is the foam softer in those areas?

We’ve seen pockets of in the middle of blocks with a similar texture. It is due to poor processing by your vendor or reject/recycled beads that migrate to the middle from the back pressure while molding the block.

That’s why we developed our own Engineered EPS to eliminate this issue of inconsistent densities with sled cut block foam. Couldn’t sell or use the soft middles of a few blocks but that’s not an issue anymore with our new foam formula.

Many many thanks,

i will investigate in that direction. Sad that your foam is not a real option for me shipingwise, i live in Germany :(.

Does someone have a hint for me where to get good foam in 4m blocks over here?

Best wishes

Jasper
