Hurricane Relief Efforts

Many of our sways brothers and sister have been hurt by Hurricane Sandy.

I had some money put aide to get a new board. After seeing how bad things were up there I made the decision to send that money to the red cross.

Then last night it hit me. we at sways could do something special.

I will by some Blanks with that cash i have might be able to afford 4 or 5 blanks. it would be great if some of our professional shapers could donate their talent. others could donate funds for resin and talent to glass boards.   The finished boards would then be actioned off  and all the Money go to Hurricane Relief efforts.

Think about this is a way for us to help by using our time and talents.

Please comment and lets see what we can do

Thanks

 Doug

Great and generous idea.  The only flaw that I can see is how long would this take to make and glass the boards, and how long would it take to get the funds where thay can do some good.  A possible plan B … Maybe some of the collectors could auction off vintage surfboards.  It would generate the funds more quickly.

yes that might Bea better idea. i was just thinking of way to get $300 to do more.  Lets say 3 blanks  could become 3 boards that would be auctioned off at around $600 so That $300 is now $1,800.  The other approach would be to auction off the labor to get the board shaped of your choice. by jim or Bill T or who ever might be interested in doing this project.

Just trying to have a small amount of money work and labor work for the benefit of others in great need.

So far no one is stepping up to the plate.

Artz, I’m in… PM me and I’ll help with supplies from Greenlight. Brian
needs the business and maybe buying some supplies from him will help
also.

I’m nobody anyone would buy a board from let alone in an auction, but I will help buy the supplies.

surfifity you are so right. I was thinking of ways that would compound our resources to put talents to work

Woody thanks for the offer of help. i will be in touch.  Think I'll buy something from Green Light just to help out.

Hey Artz, where you located? I’m in Oceanside Ca. I would definitely donate some airbrush work.

Let me know.

My friends at Seaworthy Surfshop in Carlsbad are also doing some stuff to help out our brothers on the left coast. Check it out.
