Ok so I have done some painting using a Conventional spray guns. I like how they work. a good freinds let me barrow his devilbiss HVLP gun to paint some boards. they didn’t come out quite as nice as the convetional gun. I was painting the whole board one solid color. I tried working with the HVLP gun but couldn’t get a fine spray like the other gun. What are you guys using to paint your boards with. what works best? Are the Hvlp over rated only to meet EPA standards?
Siphon guns use lots of air pressure to blow atomized paint onto a surface. HVLP sprayers use paint pressure to pattern paint. They put more of the paint on the board and less in the air. And that’s the reason why HVLP gained market share. Toxic paint emissions effect a manufacturer’s ability to stay in business. Siphon guns are more versatile and reliable. They just paint better. HVLP better? Not in my book, but I don’t have the man breathing down my neck. If you don’t, then you be the judge.
HVLP is the cadillac.I have a Croix turbine, these guns are powered by a device called a Turbine and do not use an air compressor.Avantages are less overspray, warm dry air propelling the paint and the gun can be adjusted down to almost air brush mode.Fuji is another brand name that is good. They are expensive.I have used air compressor powered HVLP guns also and I liked the ones with the cup on top.
