hydrodynamica release - anything new?

Is the Hydrodynamica movie still a ‘go’? i checked the website out - - i don’t see any news.

and does anyone have news on One California Day? Jason Baffa’s site says ‘release Fall 2006’, but somewhere else on the net i saw " sometime 2007"

It’s a go, but not until summer 07 I’ve heard. ‘Worth The Wait’ is the common phrase used.

…I know everybody’s frothing for the release (remind’s me of waiting for Perelta’s Dogtown doc., which was also worth the wait!). Is there any dirt on where their filming? I know la jolla, austr., galapogos, i even saw on here(?) they were on Kauai filming at some point. I know Kane Garden had alot of Kevin’s footage & were suppose to put out a film called ‘shoelaces & duct tape’ or ‘gone fishin’", did Hydrodynamica morph into that? I guess while i’m asking, has anybody heard if Andrew Kidman is working on a new film? or is he involved in HDYNAMICA as well? Wish Kevin or someone involved with the project would update their website or at least run a blog on filming it…or is it ‘hush-hush’? any & all info appreciated…

I think Andrew has contributed some photography to Hydrodynamica and although I’m not sure about a new film I know he’s working on a new book that’s going to be epic

Anyone know if this movie has came out yet?

Not out yet.

Release is 2008, early, hopefully.

No doubt you’ll hear about it from everywhere at once when it does come out though. Expect a twin-keel fish re-resurgence.

california day is out in shops now…a friend of mine has about 45 minutes worth of footage of simmons surfing up and down the coast.pretty bitchin’ stuff…glad someone is telling his story on film.

I need to see someone riding (or need to myself) a twin keel longboard. SO far, I’ve only seen the Hydrodynamica balsa semi-replica ridden at big Blacks (I think?). Seems like it would be a fun option for an LB

having ridden some myself-you are right - a way fun alternative. but you won’t be necessarily hangin’ ten from these. they surf off the tail. though you can get forward and trim. they catch waves way early and take off like they have an outboaord motor on 'em…

8’10" Mabile mega-twinzer. Technically not a fish but you get the idea.

Ahhhh! That sounds (matt) and looks so fun (kirk)!

That board makes my hair blow back just looking at it! Got rocker pic?

Matt, that’s privately held footage and not in the CA Day film?

yes, privately held. saw it about 14 years ago…some big waves (from what i recall) at places like malibu and overhead. don’t remember if any rincon is in it. i might have to see if i can view it again…

“yes, privately held”

Well, just as a fantasy, I wonder if the “owner” could be induced to upload it to youtube or googlevideo or one of those public spots… Would be a great thing to see I betcha.

Or get a copy to be archived at a stable surfing heritage kind of organization…might get it paid for or honking tax write-off…original source material is rare stuff.

Matt, is that footage going into Hydrodynamica? I’d imagine RK would be keen?

g

well, the holder of film is VERY protective of it…only let a couple of us see it. he is an older gent and simmons was his hero back in the day…RK might have access to some of the same footage as he is in touch with the right sources…if not, maybe someone out there can get him in touch with me and see what we can do…

the whole project and his/Baugness’ boards lately are full-on Simmons homage… some of it probably is in there already…how could it not…

KG…?
