The latest brainwave, developed from our late nineties in line hydrofoil boards. . . . this one should have eliminated the bugs while improving the good qualities of the early in line hydrofoil boards
You mean a big wide flat wing mounted on a single fin?
If so then yes I have, and also two inline singles each with a ten inch or twelve inch wide wing attached, the front single just big enough to support the wing and placed 25% up the board, the back one bigger. The result? . . . looks like normal surfing but feels like being towed by a couple of big fish, and eerily smooth and silent, neato carving turns but not the best in the tube.
The single+ straight wing was fun too, but I think we had our wings too deep in the water for good control. I would like to try another straight wing+single but would try parking the wing only an inch or two from the bottom

Hi Chipfish from another 61 fellow, we had no camera in those days so no pictures, however I sent a bunch of drawings to Sam George so maybe you could ask him !
Blowed if I know Ben, i didn’t ever manage to get any kind of response so maybe I only contacted his recycle bin !
I did discover that Surfermag has an answermachine/receptionist network which reminds me of an early computer game called ZORK (complete with Egyptian room.)
re lengths of boards with single based foils: 6’1" , 7’5" , 10’4" (gun) , 12’

CLASSIC !! [?camels ? figs ? harem ??]
…and if you play it backwards , does it [or we] become KROZ ?!

It would have been interesting on the 6’1 , and the 12’ers , I imagine , eh ?
QUITE a contrast ! [now , if I could make an fcs or bahne boxed version , maybe I could try them myself …
Maybe a sacrificial board? Then you can just hack out a hole and bung the fin in with epoxy, if you dont like it cut the fin off at the base and go again.
Made in australia too I believe but their advertising which states that you can just bolt them on to any board and get instant success is BS . . . . a bunch of NZ pros tried them out at Piha and couldn’t get them to work. . . just park one on a big heavy longboard and away you go but tricky on shorties because you have to constantly watch the exact trim angle which is critical. . . a couple of degrees too high and the board just pops up like cork !
