HyperFlex Booties

Well - Finally got the first chance to use them. When I first took them out of the package and tried them on, they seemed tight around the mid-foot, so I looked on like to see if they had something else I’d want to trade for, they didn’t, so I tried 'em on again w/thinner socks (And I wasn’t home sick… Better mood) and they seemed OK.

They are 7mm “stretchy” w/5mm soles (not sure if the soles are stretch, as, on the HyperFlex website, they indicate they use some “old” neo) I hope are not stretchy, as you may recall my whining rants about the state of gloves and booties these days… lasting about 2-3 months worth of heavy use. I could feel the rocks more than I like, and I didn’t notice any difference in feeling my board, but then again, from what I understand of others experiences, I don’t have very sensitive feet anyway.

In the water they felt, after a while, a little baggy on the top of the foot, ok, well, my right/back foot - not good, as my hypothesis is more water = less warmth (But my feet didn’t get cold in a 2 hour session - water is @ 47 here.) but the good news is they stayed tight around the foot and toes, w/out feeling too tight.

I didn’t have any problems with them while riding.

I’ll give an update after a couple of months of use.

Do they have the velcro strap across the top of the foot? Ever since I started buying boots with that strap, I don’t get that “baggy” feeling you mentioned. The strap not only keeps you from getting that water baloon in your boots, but also keeps your foot from sliding around inside the boot. The only thing worse than having cold feet is having that boot roll around under your foot when you push laterally.

I LOVE Hyperflex suits. I will no longer spend an outrageous amount of money on other brands so they can have superstar team that get suits for free when Hyperflex is just as good and even better. My 5/4/3 is the best suit I’ve ever owned. It got me through the entire winter except for one really bitter cold day that I had to go to my 6/4. That said… their boots are too narrow for me. I still have to resort to O’Neill. They seem to fit the shape of my foot the best.
