Swaylocks is composed of surfers, most of whom buy boards and talk to other surfers. as I said before around here (Northern NSW) I mostly see older guys and kooks riding ST’s but that could likely change with TL2’s which seem marketed at more experienced surfers. Sorry mate but that is guys who post on Sway’s.

Like I said I have no problem with ST’s but your paranoia and siege mentality is alienating and making problems where there were none b4.

Try the opening post if you want a sample of DP’s convictions on offshore/ mass production. He has repeated this in numerous magazine articles. Steve

Regardless of Bush’s substance abuse issues up until the time his Father was President, or that he gave it up for a better life isn’t the point I was trying to make. The point was very simply, that Parminter can change, and hopefully has, as the readers of his articles in surfing magazines hopefully can.

BTW, as if anyone here cares much, I’ve supported ST, RF, and the retailers who sell their boards and can make some money selling them. Something that’s not as easy with the domestic board market.

Otay, I can tell you are a military veteran. It’s my personal belief that I could never challenge your conviction or of the honor in which you served.

Thank you for that service! I do have strong views in regards to elected politicians and how they work, for and against us. It’s my right and I love that right.

Thank you for your support of ST and RF. Your heart felt sentiment is unusual for this site.

-If DP’s statements were pre clark foam closure then I understand totally about the change of mind. Shapers were forced into EPS use and epoxy resin especially those making huge wide boards. These essentially windsurfing volumed equivelant SUPs have been made with the highest quality for years in Asia(as wind surfers). Except for the Maui crew, the only other option would be Asia to build large quanity/high quality boards. Nothing hard to figure out for me. You are forced to use certain materials, they work great, you become a believer. The old methods are outdated or unavailable. It’s called adapting. As far as using BW to make three of his model SUP boards…Surftech or Maui options would have been my choice but it probably involved multiple partners in the decision and start up costs, speed of delivery blah, blah, blah. But it’s none of my business, I am owed no explainations and for those who are so pissed off just boycott BW and DP custom boards and his future writings.

its pretty easy to bog and opaque 2pac a board with sandthroughs

and say its good qaulity just cuz it looks good

looking at the new sunovas with clear finishes

theres no mistaking there is better alternatives to using bog

im a long way off sure, but getting closer every day

my personal boards get a lot of abuse actually

but show very little sign of it

im still waiting for to see the ST flex video on the flex thread

no company can rest on its laurels

The veteren reference was to EPAC avitar status on the BB as “veteren”

just like yours says" journeyman" but I think" moron" or “I hate DP” would be more appropriate for you.

I don’t need to shout at anybody at cobra because:

-the workers are grateful for the job

-no such thing as workmans compensation/unemployment benefits

-there is a 9 day work week in Thailand

My veteren status has no revelantce to this dicussion as the initial reference was to an avitar status.But if SS’s manhood is based on his “tour of duty” lets just say I am 5 times the man he is and have more time under a parachute conopy on active duty that he has in the chow line.

I never ranted about Bush one time. I answered your comment about respect. There is not an ounce of anti American socialism in my thinking and I am for free trade when it’s something other than human labor. Produce something and put it on the market. If it’s good people where ever they are will buy it or not. Thats free trade. Outsourcing has zip to do with free trade. It’s 100% about profit. Not looking out for folks.

As someone who lived in Thailand for 11 years and speaks absolutely fluent Thai with a deep understanding of Thai culture that few outsiders will ever have I can assure the readers of this forum that the factory floor workers in Thai factories generally don’t feel grateful to their employers.

They also have a regulated working week (5-6 days, they can choose) and a minimum award wage for internationally owned factories.

Obviously this clown doesn’t work for Cobra and is having a ball stirring the pot.

Back to the topic of the thread.

The switchfoot by Parmenter on the Asian popout debate appears to my casual observation to be motivated by the money.

Others are saying otherwise but action speak louder than words.

I know we’re all probably sick to death of this but just for the record… I am not a hater of DP nor jealous in any way of him, his success now or in the future. I’ve been a great admirer of his surfing skills, design skills and insightful, passionate writing.( i realise this probably makes me a sucker in some eyes). In many ways as the terrain of the surf media becomes ever closer to advertorial for the surf industry his was a rare and welcome voice of independent thought.

Makaha holds a very special place in my heart. As a shit-scared haole I witnessed and was blessed to receive tremendous aloha from The westside Hawaiians. Surfing Makaha and Maillie point was epic, Makaha showed me what ohana was all about, they showed me the template of what a surfing life could be and I’ve tried to incorporate that open-mindedness and family involvement ever since. I’m sure DP holds that dear too.

If I saw him walking down the street tomorrow I’d have no probs asking him why he so publicly about faced on offshore production (probably after ordering a widow-maker semi-gun off him).

Surfing has come a long way as a culture and historically, respecting our elders and visionaries , comes down to their continuing integrity. I’m thinking Alby Falzon, George Greenough, Duke, Tom Blake etc etc. Otherwise we’re just a bunch of snotty -nose punks who quit and move on to the next shallow fad. I realise this probably isn’t the place for this conversation but the reason I joined Sways (and don’t waste my time on other forums) is beacuse there is a reservoir of wisdom and experience here that transcends mere technical knowledge about surfboard design. Anyway as Blane pointed out less time on the puter more time in the water.Was that Jockos/Chuns ? Steve
