I Built My Wife a 7'2 Swallowtail ...

And a 6’6  Fish…

but she doesn’t surf , so I suppose I’ll just ride 'em myself.

7’2 x 21 1/2

6’6 x 21 1/2

First boards I’ve built in a couple of years - seems each time I overcome a few traps for young players , only to discover a couple more…

sand throughs, this time. I’m not used to 4 oz cloth ( these are 4 bottom , 4+6 deck).

A long time Sways contributer gave me rocker numbers for the 7’2 , cheers for that

the fish is inspired by the Miller f skate , Neilson FFF, Rusty modfish, and virtually everyone who makes a  fish derived model with a pulled in tail.

fins layed up cut n foiled by moi

I got shrewd this time and de flashed the fin boxes with a router

I baptized them both on saturday - they feel good in the water but performance wise I don’t really know yet , I can’t surf to save myself just at the moment.

Cheers for all the help Swaylocks

If I had a shop, I would have to steal that quote.

Nice gift, and nice of you to break them in for her too!

Sand throughs with 4 oz - oh yeah, so easy to do!  One of the things I like about 6 oz. - a bit more margin for error.  4 under the 6 on the deck patch is good.  Boards look good - fins too!  Next time give us some "in the process" photos too, not just the eye candy at the end - we is board builders!

Boards look good NF!

Reminds me of when Homer bought Marge a bowling ball. =D

I Built My Wife A 7'2 Swallowtail ...

and she surfs better than me.

Well thats my life any way !

I  cant believe I taught my wife how to surf and now shes better than me.

She does have an excellent shaper tho…

Balsa, that is just perfect.

Nice work.  The boards look fun and the fins are fabulous!

Quote on the wall of my shop…

I’m not one for self congratulation , but some visual learners like me might like to see pics of these boards being ridden

settin up for the bazza that didn’t quite happen …

bit of a pump

and a rasta hack that my boat mate missed

I had a red tip wing keel trailer in the board that day

And the little orange fishy

think I fell off here

Happy camper , nothing like getting a good ride on a board you’ve made , eh ?

good fun, good photos, awesome!

looks like somebody scored an Indo trip  =)

Nice boards NukeFish! I’m finishing off a 7’2" swallow tail, but being selfish, its for ME!  Next one is for the fiancee…honest.

Where’s the break? Somewhere near Auckland? Great action shots!

Marty

cool Photos. Nice to see those boards in action. Now we need an after action report with  detailed with  longitude latitude of the test site.

wow!

Nice pics NF, got any more?

Never mind the self promotion, this place is lacking surf pics of all things…

Post 'em up! =)

Haha …  no , not Indo , and certainly not Auckland  - the Maldives.

I won’t say exactly where , but a well known spot that’s certainly on the well beaten path.

Me again - not exactly ground breaking stuff I know , but I was pleasantly relieved that I did as well as I did , considering what a donkey fest my surfing life’s been over the last couple of years.

This is our surf guide , who flat out rips -

A good time was had by all -

actually there’s a few things both joyful and sinister going on in the Maldives at the moment , but I’ll start another thread about that .

Choice to see some action photos. Wishing the water was that warm here.

Just watched some videos of the Maldives.  Looks like afun place to hang out.
