I don't need any more surfboards

...but I keep building 'em anyway

one day, this will be me.

this is me....and the majority of people here

Why don’t you just give a few away. There are tons of people in need of boards out there.

But hey, I guess there where tons of guys without wives but Solomon wasn’t going to give a single one of is 1000 wives away.

good one Francois

ive got around 25 boards and more on the way, i guess im just addicted

there is like 30 around the house if anyonw wants to buy some LOL

I’ve got two surfboards in total. A 6’5" round pin that was magic till I grew out of it. I was 6’2" and 80kg when I got it last year, and the biggest waves I surfed where around 5ft, a year and lots of exercise later, I’m 6’4", and 90kg, and surfing 8ft hawaiian. I just got a new board for the summer second hand. The board was only surfed like 4 times but it’s been for sale for like forever, basically since I started surfing around 4 years ago. No one in the town surfs anything over 6’2" and it’s a 6’8" squash tail shortboard with some meat on it, I got it for like $150. There is not a single scratch on it.

The funniest thing was when I took it out at my local point break and this local older ex-pro asked how big is it. 6’8" I answer. “WHAT! Thats like a gun!!”

How can a guy go through 30 years of surfing, go to Hawaii surf 15ft sunset and big pipeline, travel the world surfing, and call a 6’8" squash tail a gun? I wonder what they are going to say next winter when I walk up with a 8’0"…

Another good one was: “Can you even turn the thing?” Just before doing a series of snaps, carves, and a layback hack straight infront of the guy…

Huck, please don’t talk that way.

(I’ll trade you some of mine for yours)

I just finished my second. It needs glassing now. Portland OR. Fall storm weather not exactly conducive to glassing outdoors. 7ft egg, the board I wanted in the middle of summer. Time to break out the 6 10 semi gun when this 15 ft storm surf settles down a bit.

Just bought an 8-4 gun made in the early 70’s by one of the Irons brothers. Single fin, brown and scarred from many years of use. Cost me $125.

My wife was taken back that I would buy a board when I’ve been making all my boards since 2005.

Well, it costs me about $125 to make a board and I needed a gun for the bigger days when the faces hit 12-15 feet. It has all the right stuff that I want in a gun, just may be a bit old school. But then I’m old anyway, and these are the kinds of boards we grew up with.

If it doesn’t work out, I have something to pull templates off of to make a modern version, and I can always sell it to Rarrick for $125, who I know will probably try to sell it for way more.

Until I find a one board quiver that will work for me in waist high up to 15’ faces, I’ll always need one more board.

I've got at least 30 boards in my garage..I'm a moron but the concepts keep coming and I get obsessed building boards. I think there are worse addictions out there as after all it's all about getting in the water...what could be wrong with that? Im going to try to sell a few at the next Seal beach swap meet.

I’m looking to make a 8ft chambered wood semi-gun for the days the faces are 12-20ft, when I get the time and money to do so. Till then I’ll be getting second hand boards to test out some different designs. When I go to J-Bay next year I’ll see what gun boards are for sale around there, I’ll need something for the bigger waves around there…

The up side of this is: no time constraints.  If I don't need the boards I'm building, I can take my time.  The longer it takes, the longer it'll be before I need to buy more supplies LOL.

"I don't need any more surfboards...but I keep building 'em anyway"

Me too...but I also build chairs

so you're the chair-man of the board!

My dream was to retire to the Catskils to build Adarondak chairs.  Maybe some day.
