I appreciate the advice and the information on whom to contact. I couldn’t agree with you more regarding hair on the thighs and on the chest too especially since I am a pretty hairy guy.
Since this past Wednesday I have been out surfing in wind chop for at least 10 hours the last 5 of which were today and yesterday. Without a rash guard and wax after just a couple of hours I would develop chaffing on both sides of my stomach just below my chest. My thighs should have been torn up after ten hours. Even with a rash guard I would have had discomfort. But after 10 hours of no rash guard I do not have near the discomfort I used to have.
I look at the history of surfing and how it has evolved since Duke’s time, if we stop experimenting nothing would have evolved.
I have put up pics of the end result of surfing 10 hours with this product so people can judge for themselves.
I’ve always looked for a wax alternative , mostly because I make wood boards and am sorry to see them covered in brownish greyish blackish wax a 1/4 inch thick. I also wonder sometimes why anyone even puts graphics on the deck on a board?
Unfortunately the springsuit bootie man syndrome would be a major roadblock. People might see you and just assume you’re a kook and go…
Thats too funny cause at my break, Im that dude, although I dont wear the suit, have even refused to wear one on our coldest days, I still wear the xcel booty becuase they give me so much more traction with this product than my good old feet and nasty wax.
To make matters worst I only started surfing last year when I hit 40, so I definately could fill in for that spring suit booty man, but these past few days cause I catch most waves and take a good line, the younger locals are giving me props even though I still wear my boots; its the older locals that stil give me the weird eye. But out of water when they look at my board I see the puzzeled looks cause its not guanked up with wax and looks like there is nothing on the board until your 2 feet from it.
In my defence I look to good out there to be the spring suit booty man. You have to be gray, balding, and with beer belly and Im not there yet. Just call me gripy booty man.
I looked at your photo’s. I will not reveal it, but have figured out what you are doing, and the application method. Very clever, indeed. Commendable out of the box thinking. I hope you are able to nail down your plans for it. If I can be of any help to you, PM me. Well done.
I have started to think about other markets as well such as skateboards because out of the water the stuff is really good too. Thanks for pointing out the body board market. I never thought of it but it would work great on body boards and neoprene would get really good traction too.
I am 100% curious to know what you think it is. Lets just say I’m please to have someone, with your knowledge and history, spend a little time on my thread. Please send me a private message telling me what you think I’m doing and I will reply back with an honest answer as to if you are correct or not. Please understand I cannot tell you yet what I am doing if it turns out to be different from what you think as I have not yet decided which way to go.
Surffoils made some great suggestions to widen my market and I think this product would be suitable to both bodyboard and skateboards so I will be testing on those as well.
Now I’m off for another go-out in hard wind chop which means a lot of paddeling just to stay in the line-up.
dshafie. Just looked at the pictures, can see what your doing and you are for sure thinking outside the box ! Good on ya ! Probably could figure out the product in short order but this is your baby and an original idea. Wish you luck on running with this !!
pirate_agenda , I think not ! dshafie, if it is what I think it is there is a possibility that it could be sprayed on with a spatter gun or hopper gun and then it would look way kool. Guess I will get down in the shop next week and start experimenting. What ever I find, I will not let the cat out of the bag, this is your baby !!
Man, its very simple: do you want to have a product to sell or do not?
If yes, you should understand that better you have lots of money to marketing, due no money you ll see if you do not advertise the product and have a heavy campaign about it.
May be all that cost more from what the product can gives to you.
If you do not want that ride and if you like you can put the info here or everywhere or better keep it for you.
So please no more mysteries.
—What I do not get it is why having gray hair or be bald is a sign to be a kook? (I do not see Slater, to name a well known surfer to be a kook…)
You do not choose to be tall, small, Chinese, White, have hair or do not, etc its all in the genes
The only stuff you can work is over you body and your culture/intellect.
What I see plenty is that most of the 60s surfers now are fat…are they kooks?..happens that due to most are big guys and yes may be they do not have a nice diet
Ah yes, the ever so SACRED ‘‘2012 Harvard U. peer reviewed study’’ which MAY hold true for boats, and surfboard bottoms. Fins, and HOW they function, are a completely DIFFERENT DYNAMIC. The conclusions of the study are NOT in accord with the real world function of a surfboard fin in a wave. That’s all the clue you get pal, I leave you to continue in the hog wallow of your ignorance. OK, everyone, get ready for another wordbath from Chief Running Mouth!
Might be a winner in cold climates. I can count the days I’ve surfed without boots on one hand. Thawing the wax before rubbing it on isn’t much fun either.
